Debbie Sterling’s journey from merchant to mentor – Build a BIGGER Business
Debbie Sterling is a force to be reckoned with.
At 28 years old, this Stanford-educated engineer left a stable job in marketing to start GoldieBlox. Her goal? To introduce engineering concepts to girls through toys.
In 2013, Debbie won Shopify's Build A Business competition. She was flown to New York City and received mentorship from top entrepreneurs, including Tim Ferriss and Daymond John.
Five years later and her company is an industry leader. GoldieBlox is sold around the world and is carried in over 6,000 retailers.
Debbie is now taking part in Shopify's Build a BIGGER Business competition, this time as a mentor.
Amazing
Yes!
Congrats on everything, Debbie.
love this great job
Nice story indeed. How much is this brand currently worth?
So you wanted to prove you are an serious engineer, but you turned out to be a toy maker?
Yeah…you proved them wrong…for real… (telling this sarcastically)
That’s why girls who are engineers, who prove them wrong can’t get attention…toy makers and clothes re-designers get the attention
